Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.Ed., B.Sc./B.A. with PGDE or equivalent) in the relevant subject or closely related discipline.

  • Strong classroom management and student leadership abilities.
  • Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience in a reputable school is an added advantage.
  • Registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is an added advantage.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, learning management systems, interactive boards, AI-assisted teaching tools, or other educational technologies will be an added advantage.

JOB VACANCIES – NON-TEACHING STAFF

Merilebon Academy Uyo is recruiting suitably qualified, experienced, and dedicated individuals to join our growing team in the following positions:

1. SCHOOL NURSE

Responsibilities:

  • Provide first aid and basic medical care to pupils, students, and staff.
  • Monitor students who become unwell during school hours.
  • Maintain accurate health and medical records.
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
  • Administer medication where authorised and in accordance with school policy.
  • Promote good hygiene, health, and wellness practices across the school.
  • Communicate appropriately with parents/guardians regarding students’ health concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-equipped sick bay.

 

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) qualification; additional relevant certifications are an advantage.
  • Valid professional registration/licence.
  • Previous experience working with children or in a school environment is an advantage.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Calm, compassionate, responsible, and able to respond effectively in emergencies.

 

2. SCHOOL SECRETARY

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the school’s front office and administrative duties.
  • Receive visitors, parents, and telephone enquiries professionally.
  • Maintain accurate records, files, correspondence, and school documents.
  • Prepare letters, reports, notices, and other official documents.
  • Assist with student admissions and registration processes.
  • Manage appointments, meetings, and administrative schedules.
  • Support communication between management, staff, parents, and students.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Perform other administrative duties assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • OND, HND, Bachelor’s Degree, or relevant qualification in Secretarial Studies, Business Administration, Office Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous administrative or school experience is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and other office applications.
  • Excellent organisational and customer-service skills.
  • Professional appearance, courteous attitude, and attention to detail.

3. SCHOOL DRIVERS

Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport pupils, students, staff, and authorised persons as assigned.
  • Operate school vehicles responsibly and in accordance with traffic regulations.
  • Conduct routine checks to ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
  • Keep vehicles clean and properly maintained.
  • Report vehicle faults, accidents, or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Maintain punctuality and follow assigned routes and schedules.
  • Ensure students board and alight from vehicles safely.
  • Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality at all times.

Requirements:

  • Valid Nigerian driver’s licence appropriate for the vehicle operated.
  • Proven driving experience; school-bus or commercial driving experience is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of roads and traffic regulations.
  • Good knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Clean and responsible driving record.
  • Must be punctual, reliable, patient, safety-conscious, and courteous.
  • Ability to work with children and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

4. JANITORS / CLEANING STAFF

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout classrooms, offices, washrooms, corridors, and other school facilities.
  • Clean and disinfect high-use areas regularly.
  • Ensure classrooms and facilities are prepared before school activities.
  • Properly handle and dispose of waste.
  • Replenish cleaning and sanitation supplies when necessary.
  • Report damaged facilities, hazards, or maintenance issues to management.
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Support the general cleanliness and appearance of the school environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous cleaning or janitorial experience is an advantage.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Good personal hygiene and a neat appearance.
  • Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and physically capable of performing assigned duties.
  • Ability to work respectfully around children and staff.
  • Must demonstrate honesty, responsibility, and attention to detail.
